Tipsy Tow- Stay Safe this 4th of July

man in handcuffs1Happy 4th of July everyone! Tegner-Miller Insurance Brokers wishes all of you a happy and safe Independence Day. We also urge everyone to celebrate responsibly. July 4th is one of the deadliest days for traffic fatalities. In 2008, 491 individuals died as a result of traffic accidents on July 4th, and nearly half of these cases involved alcohol consumption. Additionally, thousands of individuals are arrested for DUI every July 4th, leading to higher license revocation and higher car insurance premiums.

While you should avoid over-consumption in general, you should absolutely never get behind the wheel of a car while intoxicated. One way to avoid drunk driving this 4th of July is to take advantage of the AAA “Tipsy Tow” service. This service, which is available to both AAA members and non-members, seeks to reduce the number of drunk driving incidents on New Year’s Eve and July 4th. AAA works with local tow companies to provide complimentary pick-ups and car tows for intoxicated individuals. The tow truck will take individuals and their cars up to 7 miles from the pick-up location.

This 4th of July, play it safe: if you are intoxicated but do not want to take a taxi and leave your car behind, take advantage of the “Tipsy Tow” service. Call 1-800-400-4222 and ask if “Tipsy Tow” serves your area.

TMIB wishes you a safe and fun 4th of July!
