LA Hospital Pays Ransom to Cyber Hackers
Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center came under a malware attack and their system was completely locked by hackers. Meaning all of their medical records, patient histories, accounting, …..everything was frozen until a $17,000 ransom in untraceable bitcoins was paid. Even though the attack only kept the hospital down for a relatively short amount of time and nobody was harmed in the process, it has raised questions regarding the security of digital records and what it could mean on a larger scale.
